Sunrise at Mount Shasta, CA

After a chilling night at high elevation, I drove to a trailhead at the end of long winding forest road in the foot hills of Mt Shasta. A brief scrabble in deep snow brought me to a field with an alleged vista of the mighty snow capped volcano. Setting up in the predawn dark, I could just make out its silhouette against the dim sky. As the damn brightened it’s low slanting light illuminated high altitude winds thrashing the peaks and blowing fresh snow thousands of feet into the air.
