Lake Champlain, Charlotte, VT
A particularly beautiful tree enticed me to photograph it on the shores of Lake Champlain at midday. The only problem was a particularly challenging backlit scene. In order to represent the full range of light as seen by my eye, and get detail in the shadows and highlights, I took 7 exposures (identical compositions on a tripod) and combined them in photoshop later. Most of my shots involve editing to make up for what the camera cannot see as well as the human eye. This scene and lighting presented a particularly difficult challenge, and after hours or trial and error I finally got it right, which was particularly exciting for me!
